About heART&mind

We are a Canadian youth-led organization dedicated to spreading awareness about the importance of mental health among the youth. We believe in the importance of art as a healthy means of coping and self-expression.
We provide a graphical representation of statistics based on Canadian mental health research as well as posts shining light on illnesses that are marginalized in order to reduce the stigma on mental illness. We also showcase artists whose works depict the theme of mental health.

We believe that no child or teenager should feel like they have to keep their struggles hidden or feel embarrassed about their mental state, so we created a platform to share the work of various artists-works created during a time of struggle or depicts the importance of mental health.

We believe in the healing power of art

Founder and President
"The idea for heART&mind struck me quite gradually. Upon facing challenges within my own mental health, I found that I constantly leaned on my childhood love of drawing and painting. Then, I realized the people around me were doing the same. Sometimes the most beautiful paintings, songs, dances, poetry...were all products of immense pain. Yet, our ability to create enabled us to talk and eventually, heal."

"Becoming a member of heart & mind really caught my attention. As an 18 year old, being a part of Saras Academy and K.I.D Youth Leadership Program really motivated me continue spreading awareness on Mental Health. I recently collaborated with TED and
Performed a TED Talk on the topic of Mental Health. Then, I realized I wanted to continue spreading awareness. What is better than joining an organization that focuses on Mental Health so here I am passionately trying to reach our approach of spreading awareness through the work of art, dance, and music.
